Residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from severe environmental pollution caused by wastewater spreading across roads as a result of overflowing septic tanks and increased contamination of groundwater due to leakage. This has led to the spread of diseases and epidemics among the population.
To help alleviate this suffering, the Arab International Commission for Reconstruction in Palestine has launched a project to supply six mobile sewage pumps, with varying capacities, to extract wastewater from displacement camps and main streets and transport it to the nearest sewage disposal points.
The project is funded at a cost of $190,000.
